Ethiopia National Exam 2015 EC
In Ethiopia, education is started from a pre-primary pupil from 4 to 6 years old in Kindergarten. After that pupils get admission into Primary schools at the age of 7 to 10 years (grade 1 to 4) and 11 to 14 years (grades 5 to 8).

- (3) teacher education and development,
- (4) higher education,
- (5) TVET, and
- (6) policy, governance, and leadership.
Grade 8th (የ8ኛ ክፍል)
At the end of Grade 8th, a regional exam is conducted by the Ministry of Education (MoE) Primary school certificate exam. This examination is not a national-level examination but it’s equally important for primary-level students.
National Educational Assessment and Examinations Agency-NEAEA, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia neither conducted the grade 8th examination nor published its result online.
MOE – Ethiopian Ministry of Education is responsible for publishing its books, question papers, exam dates, results, and exam center. Most of the examination is conducted in the Amharic (አማርኛ) language.
NEAEA Examination 2023
After the 8th grade students get admission into Secondary education. It has two years of schooling from age 15 to 16 years (grades 9 and 10).
Grade 10 Exam (የ10ኛ ክፍል)
At the end of grade 10th, students sat for the country’s first national examination, the Ethiopian General Secondary Education Certificate Examination (EGSECE). The EGSECE is popularly known as grade 10.
In grade 10 the National Educational Assessment and Examinations Agency (NEAEA) took the responsibility for the quality and improvement of the education system under MoE. In addition, the grade 10 examinations are conducted at all places in the country once every year in the month of June/July. In general, the grade 10 result was released in the month of August, and September. However, students are required to pass in at least 5 subjects to get promoted to a higher level.
Grade 12 Exam (የ12ኛ ክፍል)
At the end of grade 12 students appeared in the country’s second and most important national examination called the Ethiopian Higher Education Entrance Examination (EHEEE) The EHEEE is popularly known Ethiopian University Entrance Examination.
The NEAEA administered the grade 12 examination. In addition, the grade 12 examination is conducted across the country once every year in the month of June/July. In general, the grade 12 result was released in the month of August, and September. In grade 12 candidates have to pass a minimum of seven (7) subjects for eg. in the Natural Science group: Biology, Chemistry. Civics, English Mathematics Nat. Sc., Physics, Scholastic Aptitude is there.
